Glazing upgrades

Double glazing retrofit, Melbourne.

Warmer, quieter, drier rooms — without rebuilding the façade. We retrofit double glazing to existing apartments and commercial buildings, reaching the windows by rope access where access is the hard part.

Comfort without a rebuild

Upgrade the glass, not the whole building.

Older single-glazed buildings lose heat in winter, bake in summer, let the street in, and sweat with condensation. Retrofitting double (or secondary) glazing tackles all four — improving thermal comfort, cutting external noise and reducing condensation — without the cost and disruption of replacing the whole façade.

For mid- and high-rise buildings the real challenge is reaching the windows. As rope-access glaziers we work from outside without scaffold, which keeps the job affordable and the disruption to residents low.

Why retrofit

Four problems, one upgrade.

Thermal comfort

Warmer in winter, cooler in summer — and lower heating and cooling costs.

Acoustic control

Noticeably less traffic, rail and city noise getting into the building.

Less condensation

A warmer inner pane that's far less prone to fogging and water on the glass.

Common questions

Double glazing retrofit FAQs

What is double glazing retrofit?

Upgrading existing single-glazed windows to a double-glazed (or secondary-glazed) system without rebuilding the façade — improving thermal comfort, cutting noise and reducing condensation in existing apartments and commercial buildings.

Will double glazing fix condensation?

It significantly reduces it. Condensation forms when warm, moist indoor air meets a cold single pane; double glazing keeps the inner pane warmer, so it's far less prone to fogging — though ventilation also matters.

Can it be done in an occupied apartment building?

Yes. Where façade access is the challenge, our rope-access glaziers reach the windows from outside without scaffold, keeping disruption to residents low.

Cold, noisy or fogging windows?

Tell us the building and the windows — we'll scope a retrofit and respond within one business day.
